What Is Knotroot in Fortnite?

Knotroot in Fortnite is an alien plant resource found across the island. These green vines can be yanked out of the ground and used to make the player jump higher and further. The player receives the same effect as with Alien Nanites, so they would be able to jump easily onto rooftops or over fort walls even if they do not have an Alien Nanite in their possession. Knotroot offers a thin and unbreakable root that expands and sticks to almost everything it comes in contact with.

It has a quick-growing vine paired with numerous leaves that create a bridge-like effect. Knotroot was introduced in Chapter 2, Season 8 of Fortnite which kicked off on September 13, 2021. Knotroot usage drastically declined after players discovered that the Alien Nanite achieved the same effect in a more immediate manner. Whether one refers to Fortnite Knotroot or simply Knotroot, this plant-based resource promises a lot of excitement and enjoyment when used in creating gravity-defying jumps across the map.

How To Obtain Knotroot in Fortnite?

You can obtain Knotroot in Fortnite by finding one of the four tents in the center of the map that regularly spawns Knotroot consumable from the Red and Black Torchlight quest. They are found at these map coordinates:

  • Center of the intersection of 297, 308, and 315
  • The middle of the roof of a house at 321
  • Covered in snow and in line with the restaurant on the west wall of the center of the intersection of 323, 305, and 296.
  • South side of the closed greasy parlor at 328

Another location in Slurpy Swamp at the map coordinates 576, 470 will have Knotroot during the Agent Games Quest. The Red and Black Torchlight Quest is given during Chapter 3 of Season 1 in Creative Gamemode.

Knotroot as shown by its Tent icon can be found at some locations off the north coast and bridge areas of the map during Expedition mode in Chapter 2 of Season 8. An Interview With Alexander report n November 4th estimates it was cautiously optimistic that Knotroot will eventually be available in the Pepper Thieves! Expedition. Climbing down to the abandoned boat landmark reveals pieces of the freshwater shellfish as well.

Knotroot in Fortnite does not grant health boost and is used to cancel zero gravity in sections of the Red Light, Green Light Layne Supermarket. Echoing Zero-G Rhys may also listen to a specific Knotroot mix that cancels zero gravity. Knotroot quest and not nightclub!

Harvesting Knotroot in the Wild

Knotroot can uniquely only be harvested with a pickaxe and never any other tool or weapon in Fortnite. You can find knotwood plants naturally growing in forests, swamps, and alongside riverbanks and streams, making them one of the easiest foraging crops to find.

Even though the plant itself is marked with a glowing blue color, you do not need to track it and can target any plant to see if it is knotroot. Just remember to target others so that you are 100% sure it shows the knotroot ingredient in the name.

When harvested, knotwood caps are worth 2 gold. You can multiply the value by spotting a metro truck locations that provide an advantage to farming these bluebushes due to easy mobility.

The map coordinates for knotroot farms are the following:

  • B7 basketball court south of Dirty Docks (12). This outdoor sports area is surrounded by trees making it a hotbed for knotroot blue plan collection.
  • A4 campsite north-east of Hunter’s Haven (6). There is another backyard camping spot that has been left intact. Adirondack chairs are made to take a good view of the local flora, even has a wash basin to get that campfire smell off your hands. Every tree here is a prime source of blue-plumed knotroot.
  • D3 island east of Misty Meadows (3). There is a picnic area on this small lake island. If the need is there, a pleasant yet unexciting place to recover.

Trading With NPCs

Another option to knotroot is to trade with non-player characters (NPCs). NPCs were first implemented in Fortnite season 5 and have been expanded in later updates. Unlike shelter fish traders, these special NPC merchants deal in a variety of materials, weapons, and munitions, as well as other items. At trading posts such as Cole’s Clothers, the Diner, or Stekeasy, the player can exchange gold for anything the trader has in stock, such as knotroot.

To find a trading post, listen for in-game audio cues or watch for a gold icon on the minimap. When you are close enough, an icon will appear on the game screen indicating that you can interact with the trader. Approach the trader and select the materials and weapons you wish to purchase. The price of each item will be listed in gold, the in-game currency.

What Are The Uses Of Knotroot in Fortnite?

The uses of Knotroot in Fortnite are to make Zero Point Fish. Foraged items in Fortnite can be used to heal oneself, grant health or shield buffs, or provide arena advantages like trip mines. The effectiveness of these items ranges from negligible to game-changing, depending on the item.

Typical fortnite foraged items are the mushroom, The Apple, The Cabbage, and the medkits. But the ch2 s5 fortnite season introduced the chili and Buttermilk flopper, followed by the flopper explosion of ch2 s6. Knotroot is not unique as a ch2 s8 Fortnite foraged material, and players are wise to collect it when they see it. Other uses of Knotwood, if any, are not shown in Fortnite at Map Changes You Missed in Fortnite Chapter 3.

How To Use Knotroot in Fortnite?

Sorry, but you CANNOT use Knotroot in Fortnite as there is no means of farming it. Knotgrass itself is a non-interactive item in the game with the only use being as one of the three weeds that can be picked up during the game. The color of Knotgrass is light orange. Fortnite’s Knotgrass is textured to look similar to a low-resolution version of the real plant, even though they share no other resemblances.

Fortnite weeds cannot be ‘used’, as there is no way to consume or equip them. The only way to interact with Knotgrass or either of the other two foraged weeds is to pick them up. This does not equip or use them for anything and just adds them to a player’s inventory displayed on the right side of the screen. Adding water to Knotgrass does not activate any unique abilities, as they are merely foraged weeds that serve no in-game purpose aside from meeting ‘destroy foliage’ missions.

Crafting Healing Items

You knotroot levels up to Tier 1 by farming. Then subsequently levels up to Tier 2 by either growing it in garden plots or by crafting it into healing items when it has depleted energy and regrowing it in a garden plot. These amounts of harvest time and energy are typically required to reach the higher tiers of resource units in Fortnite which is why you need these different methods of recharging and upgrading energy.

When you pick them up by hand, like you would naturally before you obtain the unlock to pick them up with the forage or destroy tool types you will receive t14 and t16 over time and crafting it into a healing item can be once again enjoyed. Moving along the tech tree will reward you well in Fortnite. So use a forager or a destroyer to collect it to ensure that you will replenish it with a higher tier. If you have a full shield when you encounter knotroot, this would be the prime time to harvest it. But it will also help you to advance your Fortnite experience if you craft it into a healing item and acquire additional equipment.

Crafting Explosive Items

Using knotbush to craft explosive items in Fortnite has two advanced applications. In Chapter 3 Season 1, players were able to craft makeshift and mechanical explosive weapons that dealt damage. Certain players are concerned that the use of explosive weapons is incompatible with the future of Fortnite, as the game is about to enter their anti-buliding era.

They believe revenge-ramp-rush strategies to be difficult with Endothermic Explosives considerably more used. Explosives that make opponents sit passively have complained that the weapon requires little skill but has a devastating impact. Explosive weapons, especially those that can be spammed, have been previously nerfed in Fortnite.

Another planned nerf expected to be included in the games in January 2022 is the addition of random projectile shooting errors (such as with Bolt-action snipers) on one type of grenade for the start of the new year which will cause explosives to do less damage to builds.

What Are The Best Locations To Find Knotroot in Fortnite?

The best locations to find Knotroot in Fortnite are Weeping Woods and The Orchard.

Weeping Woods is a larger location with trees and forested areas throughout, while The Orchard is small and tight so it is quicker to check every spot for Knotroot in one loop.

The map director between 6 and 7 is within range of either of these locations.

Do you know of other good Knotroot locations in Fortnite? Let us know with a comment within the article.

Holly Hedges

Fortnite Holly Hedges inclusive golf team member Harmonic Flap Shovel plays on the roof of the yellow-roofed main gas station. Players at this gas station will spot the car on top of the left broken pumps which has been converted into a pull-up bar by Harmonic. This is the location you use to perform his previous PR employee Mission.

Pleasant Park

Pleasant Park (A4 and A5) is a two-point of interest location on the southwestern side of the Fortnite map, located in square D4 and D5. It has an underground tunnel connecting the two locations. Pleasant Park is noted for its numerous basketball courts and large number of brick and metal objects, including a large hospital that provides a good location to farm for mechanical parts. Pleasant Park currently carries 6 loot boxes, chests, or ammo boxes within its bounds providing constant material. Pleasant Park is one of the only locations to carry large amounts of ammo boxes and good weapon chests in close proximity to one another. Pleasant Park is frequently empty early in the match. But as players gravitate towards this player-friendly area for med defensive and agrressive purposes, it will become hotter unless players exit early.

Retail Row

Located in the central part of the map, Retail Row is an IO Rebel outpost where players can find and defeat Guaunlets to get the Pulse Rifle weapon. The compound is not the best place to find too much wood, but a few string-lines of cars parked around the compound and a few collection of pallets and scattered in the thrush-land will provide some material. It can be very problematic to weave grass in the compound because IO bots regularly patrol the area.

A solution is to travel outside the compound into the fields where there are low vegetation areas that should provide plenty of grass required for the knotroot quest.

There is a new NPC at Retail Row called Moniker. He sells the Slone’s Storm Launcher and the Pulse Rifle. He drops Gold Bars when eliminated. Retail Row also has 4 IO bows that Moniker cannot provide to players, although they may not be easy to find because they are such a short-range weapon. This means Retail Row does not have everything players need and does not make the best collection point for upgrading one’s loot or survivability.

Sweaty Sands

Sweaty Sands is a residential area on the southeastern part of the map that was introduced during Chapter 2, Season 1. It has a medium level of loot and medium foot traffic. Though some Fortnite experts recommend Sweaty Sands for finding Knotroots, it is less productive than the above locations.

It is recommended players look in the residential zone for this as these areas usually are where Challenge Orchid Plant vaults spawn. For all five routes Fortnite recommends, players will need to come to Sweaty Sands to get building materials first and then continue to search for their chosen site.

How To Effectively Use Knotroot in Fortnite?

To effectively use knotroot in Fortnite, plant it ahead of time where needed disrupting enemy builds. Colossal Crops, Stealthy Stronghold, and Slurpy Swampare all good areas to plant it. Planting 2 to 3 seeds can allow for around 110 structures to be grown by harvesting the same single, uprooted plant each time, and this number goes up to 285 and 178 every second harvest once it has grown maximally. Hopefully, an enemy base will be included in the location. However, knotroot is rarely used and when it is most players build a temporary base away from any building where it could be profitably used. If you find that enough opponents are leaving structures open and unused, planting knotroot near their unoccupied bases can trap them in the zone until they exit the game or die.

Doing so from direct sunlight to complete shade this can make them more effective.

Prioritize Crafting Healing Items

Always have the resources for a Medkit and/or Shield Potion on hand. If you cannot hold anymore, as these can be crafted quickly and easily on the fly, use up your healing resources (apples or corn) real quick in order to pick them up. If an enemy rushes you and you are low on health, placing one of these items will give you the time to place a gate and get indoors to regroup and plant an ambush

Use Explosive Items Strategically

Explosive items can be used to level Knotroots that are taller than 25.4 meters. This option is less sustainable and introduces an element of randomness, so is best used when other fuel and spark network options are not immediately available. Explosive items in Fortnite Battle Royale that can be used to chop down Knotroots include grenades, gas cans, and firefly jars.

What Are The Alternative Items To Use Instead of Knotroot in Fortnite?

  • Chillies: You should use these If you’re looking to be thrown into the air.
  • Apples: Apples grow on trees in the game and will increase your health with the same consumption process of Knotroot.
  • Bananas: Similar to Apples, they grant a nice visual reference to Wilders overall look and his opponent Baggie Greatree’s color scheme when he eats them.
  • Rice Cakes: Frequently found in Costco bulk food aisles. Consume these delightful treats for simple shield repair. They do not exist in the game but do in real life and the phrase is funny.

Bandages

Bandages are healing items that restore 15 health points after 10 seconds of use. They can also be used to heal a teammate. They drop individually at a stack of 5, within Supply Drops, Loot Llamas, and Chests. They can also be found in medical bed loot containers within Stadiums, Military Bases, and Complexes.

Bandages are the only healing items that are common to every mode in Fortnite and were the best items for healing to full health in small game modes like pistol only or sniper only. However, bandages were vaulted in chapter 2 and are no longer present in any game mode. If a player downs an enemy with bandages, they will receive the new healing material and 2 small med-kits. For health restoration, players should use Mushrooms, Apples, Peppers, Fish, Slurp Juice, and Med-Kits.

Medkits

Medkits are the most common medical consumable in Fortnite. They are used to restore 100% health and have an initial healing time of 10 seconds followed by a healing duration of 10 seconds where the player slowly heals.

Knotroot can be used to improve the medkit healing speed and affect additional health regeneration. Fortography reports that Knotroot has taken on a peculiar characteristic where there are only weeds, herbs, and other weeds, markers of Knotroot vegetation occasionally but never actual Knotroot bushes themselves.

This is part of the challenge of completing this objective: Fortnite has made Knotroot as rare as it can be. Players who come across a Knotroot bush need to be very careful to secure it before they draw too much attention to themselves. Only collect it on your way out and confirm the area is secluded with little foot traffic before gathering. As for where to find Knotroot plants, you’ll just need to keep your eyes peeled as there are no set locations (DMGaming25 and Mozzied note this in their video showdowns of Knotroot in Fortnite).

Grenades

Grenades are the third way to get Knotroot. While grenades are rare to come by in the grassland areas, they can be found in utility boxes, on the ground, in chests, or fished out of bodies of water. Players who wish to use grenades to acquire Knotroot should not attempt to throw a single grenade near the foliage. Instead, they should build ramp stairs at least three high over the Knotroots, before dropping the grenade mid-air. This is a more effective way to ensure the knotroots are destroyed should the player care for a challenge that allows such destruction.

Rocket Launchers

Rocket launchers are a good option in competitive situations as you can attack safely from a distance and confuse the enemy. This is how you go about getting one in Fortnite:

  1. Construct a Ramp Frame (12 Wood)
  2. Precariously telescope the ramp up to the city’s highest walkway where you will find a Rocket Launcher worth 300 Gold Bars

The missile-launcher (E.g. Rocket Launcher) is something of a unique item in that the rockets it launches don’t deal with health as they can only break buildings. This is why rocket launchers are quite special in fortnite because they do not break shielded materials, but they get his legs of buildings – making it extremely easy to take out anyone regardless of which type of build they are hiding in.
