What Is Fortnite?

Fortnite is an online battle royale game developed by Epic Games that allows up to 100 players to play solo or in teams of up to four members. The game was released in Save the World mode in July 2017 and battle royale mode followed in September 2017.

Fortnite is available on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC/Mac, and on mobile devices with iOS or Android. Players can also play the game on less powerful mobile devices and consoles using Fornite Crew subscription Cloud gaming.

The Fortnite map is an ever-changing environment with new features introduced through regular Fortnite updates. Battle royales occur on different virtual Fortnite islands and the goal is to eliminate all competition until the last survivor or team is standing.

What Is the House in Fortnite?

The House is a small, partially underground, power station on the Fortnite island. After it was added to the map during Chapter 2 Season 1, the House became a frequently visited place for medium-grade loot. It was available in the game’s Battle Labs mode but removed as of April 2021. This left the primary way to enter the house as destroying the floors above.

The house had 3 floors, each with a single main room connected via a corridor. It also had a split-level entrance area with doors leading outside to the house’s surrounding ground. The main room on the 1st floor had duction system ducts snaking along the walls and floor as well as a small cafeteria. The 2nd floor had an unused bathroom, green themed recreational room with a foosball table, and a large machinery control area. The 3rd floor had a small office and the main control and power switching room for the facility.

There are some locked doors that can’t be opened until the area surrounding the house is flooded. Then these locked airlocks can be used to go between areas that are underwater and the now air-filled house.

Why Do You Need to Get Into the House in Fortnite?

You need to get into the house in Fortnite for numerous reasons, such as evasion, surprise, flanking, acquiring better gear, materials, and chests, etc. Hiding inside a house is an easy and reliable choice in certain situations. For instance, if you are low on health and want to avoid being noticed. Similarly, AI opponents will often be seen shooting from the windows of houses at other players. So, hiding inside a house leaves you free to watch from there without peeping out, giving you a tactical advantage.

In the episode on Fortnite Battle Royale’s YouTube channel that we referenced earlier, Nick Mercs explains that you have to get into the house immediately or you lose the game. This reflects the importance of indoor loot in accessing good weapons. Despite there being no universal increase in loot indoors, the loot indoors always seems better. As of the minimum build/<"turtle-war"> meta, players will build a small passage over your base, which means if you are fighting in a small enclosed space, you are much less likely to get third-partied. The houses on the outside of the circle are often ignored when the circle is small. This allows you to roam without notice and flank from unexpected areas.

What Are the Ways to Get Into the House in Fortnite?

The ways to get into the house in Fortnite are to land directly on the house’s roof from a hot-air balloon, break into the house’s roof from a raised foundation, mine through the walls using a pickaxe, use a neared doorway to get into the house, or obtain a door code and then open it. These options are available on two homes on the Fortnite Zero Build simulation map on island code 0580-9024-1074. This also reveals two garage doors, a secret painting door containing a fire escape, and a bunker/hatch door which contains metal and a secret storage room.

To emphasize what this means, the house in Fortnite has been a part of the game map for all chapters since Chapter 2 Season 5. While the design elements of the exterior and terrain change as new seasons are launched, the interior and key attributes of the structures were maintained until the end of Chapter 2 Season 6. This allows for continued practice and use of the skills developed on Fortnite Zero Build.

Using the Front Door

The house in Fortnite has three arms of a landing, which means entering the house in Fortnite requires building stairs or ramps up to the front door. Even though players can enter the house from the back, this is the main way.

When landing, walk or run from the main gate of Misty Meadows to see the front door of the house. Inside the living room, there is a wooden chest located near the wall and a normal floor loot spot located in the center, perfect for checking it as a quick and easy thing to do against opponents.

For defensive play, the ground floor has seven ammo boxes and three weapon conversion stations. The attic has two ammo boxes. Before leaving, players may want to try Gnom Talko’s Quest in the front yard.

Using the Roof

Fortnite players can enter the house south of Pleasant Park by building a staircase to the roof and breaking the wall in through the second floor. Here is a step-by-step guide.

  1. Gather 100 wood units or 75 brick units.
  2. Build a staircase on the southwest side of the structure.
  3. Break wooden rocks on the roof (top) with a pickaxe to enter the indoor part of the structure.

Using the Basement

The house in Focused Epic’s Fortnite quiz (as of December 2021) has a hidden basement. Go into the large room on the second floor that has the long desk in the middle of it.

Destroy the floor below the ceiling lamps at the back of the room to find stairs that will take you to the basement as seen in the third image below. The basement in the Fortnite house is quite big, with a number of rooms, stairways, and furniture.

Other open floors or other ways out of the basement are currently unknown. Try the backside of the house or exploring new nearby buildings to potentially find more areas of the hidden basement.

Using the Windows

There is at least one option for jumping into the house’s first floor windows. This requires the breaker to be fixed for a window’s gate to be open, but you can still break it and enter if you have multiple bases to return to. Jumping from the hill in front or using a Launch Pad from the top of the mountain to descend are two slightly more convenient options, but having an inflatable allows you to visit the house more easily.

What Are the Items That Can Help You Get Into the House in Fortnite?

To get into the house in Fortnite, you can use the following items according to their locations on the map. Boxes and side wall stair ramps – Found in Salvatore’s Scotch near The Loop and inside various houses in Slurpy Swamp. Garage ramps – Found near Believer Beach, near the residential area of Sunflower’s Farm, and on the hill that commands a view of the beach to the south of Believer Beach. The trees there yield good building materials.

Another very useful item to get you into the house is the Zero-Point Fish, especially when caught north of Believer Beach where a river merges into the ocean. It grants player the Anti-Gravity effect, making it easier to quickly get in and out of the house. And, of course, weapons and mat resources to build are always necessary for completion of challenges and protection while focusing on getting into the house.

Grappler

The Grappler is an Exotic reconnaissance tool in Fortnite. When fired at a surface, the player is then able to propel themselves towards the grappling location, similar to Spiderman’s web-slinging. The Mythic version of this tool can even launch multiple grappling lines at once for added effect.

There is a house with an adjoining garage in the southern portion of the eastern desert. The player will be able to gain entry into this house by using a Grappler. Jumping off of the high hilltop to the west, a player can either choose to grapple down to the cliff for quick escape or grapple up to the higher peak.

Launch Pad

The option of using a Launch Pad to enter The Spire as per Aerosantos’ challenge is impractical. Launch Pads are one-time use-items that are typically used during games to allow for quick repositioning away from the storm or surprise attacks on enemies.

They are effective for this as they cover a wide area and grant a high degree of mobility. The likelihood of finding a launch pad during a game is low as their drop rate is rare. They can be found in ground, chest and shark loot spawn locations, with at least one always found in Supply Drops. Launch Pads can be stacked to three at a time and do not take up any inventory slots when being used on the player’s heads-up display. They are the only way to apply a glider texture when redeploying.

Shockwave Grenade

You can get into the house in Fortnite by using the Shockwave Grenade. The Shockwave Grenade is a rare utility item that destroys enemy built structures and sends your enemies flinging. The explosion of a Shockwave Grenade will prepare you to move through a window or roof part made of wood or straw and give you the element of surprise.

Shockwave Grenades can only be found as epic or legendary weapons and stack up to 6 items. They can be taken from the Floor Loot or from Chests, Supply Drops, or Supply Llamas. There is currently only the Shockwave Bow in Season 7 of Chapter 2 which uses the shockwaves in all its cool combinations. Although impressive, it loses its shockwave when you leave prostrate.

What Are the Strategies to Get Into the House in Fortnite?

The best strategy to get into the house in Fortnite is to be as aggressive as possible by shooting down the enemy building right next to the cliff on the coast. You will ideally use a pistol to finish him off while he is still in his tower, then you can build up to the side cliff and quickly rifle down attacking players on the ground.

Plan Your Approach

You should consider the intended launch direction of the Battle Bus when planning your approach. As shown in the Fortnite Air in Urban Settings tool, there are several proposed launch and crash sites the Battle Buses will drop you off or pick you up in Colossal Coliseum, Hunter’s Haven, Tilted Towers and other urban settings in Chapter 3 of Season 1 of Fortnite. Most of these locations do not have a house you can enter. Plan to land in or near one of those that has a house.

Use Cover to Your Advantage

Unlike other modes in Fortnite, houses, like the one in Black Bat Court, are often very open with lots of windows and not much cover. However, when possible, try to stay cover to prevent other players from seeing you come or exit and be alert for any windows other players may be peeking from.

If they are waiting on the outside, exit on the opposite side in which they are peeking. In this scenario, the most noticeable cover is the sofa area on the back-facing wall downstairs. A player’s line of sight from almost any window is somehow blocked by this cover. Another way of using cover is jumping in an out of windows when you suspect you are being watched. Do a 360-degree check of who may be waiting around them, move out of the way, and reapproach without being seen exits.

If you are heading to the house against an opponent with the same plans, do not charge into the house and get yourself shot. Wait for the enemy to be looking a different direction, or create a distraction which will let you gain a few seconds for a head start into the house. For example, fire at them before disguising into a bush (which you can find right next to the opponent spawn), they will rush outside of the house and will not expect you sneaking inside.

Using your map counter wisely is also strategic – when it hits zero seconds, someone is going to be exiting those turrets and they will likely be in front of the house. If you can get there just as they go to exit – maybe some portion of them will be visible between the maps and therefore distracted.

Be Aware of Traps

Players will frequently set up Boogie or other traps in the house doors. Before running in it is wise to check to see if other players have set up traps in the house, in the context of this job avoid traps. Be sure to look under and around the roof of the house as well as the walls.

It is possible and relative easy to build traps such as the spike trap on the ceiling of the house in Fortnite. Therefore, be sure to check above you when entering any building, especially if the entrance is from the roof.

Keep an Eye Out for Enemies

The building at Craggy Cliffs has a Fortnite bunker entrance to the house. When entering, you should proceed cautiously, as this is one of the most frequently accessed locations in the game and is frequented by rival players. Inside the house, your primary objective should be to open the second hidden safe on the second floor to maximize the chances of obtaining better loot. However, unless you are certain that there are no enemies present, you should grab a weapon immediately upon entering the house in order to defend yourself if necessary. Monitor the entrance to the bunker as well as all other windows and entrances in the house to make sure you are not ambushed when trying to exit.

What Are the Tips to Successfully Get Into the House in Fortnite?

Tips to successfully get into the house in Fortnite include landing on the roof, entering through the garage which is an upgraded basement, and using doors and windows.

  1. Land on the roof: This gives you the option to either dig downwards to directly enter the house which can avoid any defensive gems the player has set up, or to break open any weak parts of the roof to peek inside and then choose an entrance point.
  2. Garage entrance: The garage is found below the house, usually only accessible via a secret tunnel in the house such as behind a bookshelf or through a phone booth with Burning Circle graffiti.
  3. Windows and doors: The most well-known points of entry into the house, but are often hit by defenders from on and inside the house.

Practice Your Building Skills

The best way to get into the house in Fortnite involves moving quickly and fluidly while using cover and building. Staying mobile and dynamic is crucial to surviving to the end of a match. Fortnite encourages building and knowing how to rotate among the different structures is key. Coordinate with your teammates in squads mode: they can watch your back and provide covering fire as you advance on enemies, and you can do the same for them.

Use Sound to Your Advantage

If you have superior hearing from a better popup technique, you may be able to use that to locate defenses inside the building. Knowing the defenses of a home before entering it is beneficial because those are the entities that you are engaging against inside the house. For example, if the sound of a chest is muted until against one of the immediate walls, you can expect a stronger opponent to wait for you as you enter the building.

Communicate with Your Teammates

Communicating with your teammates will increase the probability of getting into the house in Fortnite. If there is no enemy in the house, select another house. You do not have to go into the house only because it is the focal point of the area. Be alert for enemy teams within medium range and concentrate on avoiding enemy teams. Chances when you are not under attack and not seen by opponents inside the house are high time for completing the opening-door challenge.

Be Patient and Persistent

If none of the above strategies work, simply hope for that key. The Fortnite House can be a confusing location with not a lot of options. There could still be a way to unlock the house or get in the house that Fortnite has simply not added yet. Or maybe there was a trick that was patched already. Wait for the famous Fortnite content creators to discover some whacky method that will inevitably be posted on YouTube. Updoot their video, and keep it in the back of your mind as you await the day when the Fortnite House becomes relevant again.
